Recently we printed an Introduction brochure, flyers and presentation folders for Birchall Foodservice, the independent family run Burnley business. They aim to become carbon neutral, and wanted any print to be environmentally friendly.
Joe Moulton, Marketing Manager at Birchall Foodservice told us: “We’re a fifth generation independent family run business, we’re a food wholesaler primarily; delivering to hospitality, care and education sectors from the borders down to Birmingham. We’ve recovered extremely well from the pandemic, we’ve seen double digit growth year on year and we’re having record sales months almost every month as well, so it’s a good place to be.
We wanted to get our recent Introduction brochure printed locally, so I approached Joanne about the job. We got about 2500 printed, and it’s a 16 page brochure, all about the company, what we do, who we are, and how we’re different from the competition.
We recently set up an internal task force to help us reduce our carbon emissions, the aim is to be carbon neutral by a certain point, and then eventually net zero. The brochure needs to be right for the environment.
Peter Scott’s offered things like vegetable based ink, biodegradable matt lamination, and all the paper is from sustainable forests as well. All that was very important. And it’s locally sourced, so you’re reducing the carbon emissions from travelling.
Compared to the big online companies, their service is impeccable. I proofread the job, as did a colleague, and it turns out we missed a couple of spelling errors, which Peter Scott picked up on. They also picked up on a few issues with resolution of images and the colours, and they helped me rectify them. You wouldn’t get that kind of service from one of the online printers.
I’d highly recommend them. The service is great, and they’ll make sure there’s no errors in your print job. The finish is fantastic and they’ll do what they can to make it environmentally friendly as well!”
We were able to put in place for them:
- Sustainable and ethical sourcing of paper using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC ®) certified stock, a non-profit organisation which promotes the responsible management of the world’s forests
- Added the FSC® logo to give instant visibility to their ethical print purchasing decisions
- Vegetable based inks
- Biodegradable matt lamination
- Paper was carbon balanced
- Bought locally – reduces delivery miles
We’re delighted to be able to meet our customers’ sustainability requirements while maintaining our excellent finish, and superb levels of service.
We have over 60 years of excellence in print, and our techniques and environmental credentials are right up to date.
